Fahrenheit 451

My first impression of Fahrenheit 451 is how the main character Montag burns books and he's a firefighter and he's the one starting fires that is ironic he's suppose to put fires out not start them. The book is pretty interesting I wanna keep reading because I wanna know what's going to happen next after he turns the corner.

Fahrenheit 451 questions

What is the significance of the salamander symbol in Fahrenheit 451?  If you don't know, guess.

The salamander has to do something with fires or a fire that's what I'm guessing.

Describe Montag at the beginning of the novel.  Do you think he's a hero?  Why/not?

I don't think he's a hero because he gets a kick out of burning books and a hero is suppose to save someone no burn books.
